Initial Set Up -------------- 1. Archon under shibboleth and the policy manager can be accessed from the main site http://archon.cs.odu.edu, but I urge you to book mark the following sites since they would be accessed frequently and you would be able to save time by navigating through fewer links. a. "https://pluto.seven.research.odu.edu/archon/index.jsp" as "Demonstration Testbed" b. "https://pluto.seven.research.odu.edu/archon/servlet/policymanager/policymanager" as "Contributor Profile and Policy Management for Archon" Demonstration Steps ------------------- 2. Using archon under shibboleth as a guest user. a. You may login directly using the book mark(1a) or use the following navigation sequence http://archon.cs.odu.edu -> Experimental Services -> Secure Distributed Digital Libraries -> Experimental Demonstration -> Demonstration Testbed. No user login is required for guest. b. Click "browse" to view results. Notice that only the title of the papers are visible. This is because the guest has no other privileges. c. click on the link of a title. You shall see only the title of the paper in a popup window and no other metadata. 3. Login to archon as faculty of test1.edu a. OPEN A BROWSER FROM THE DESKTOP. Follow 2(a) to access archon. b. Click on "login" link. You will be transferred to the WAYF. c. Choose "ShibArchon Prototype Origin (origin - test1.edu) from the drop list and click on submit. d. Enter [maly,maly] at the prompt. You will see a message indicating a hand shake between the origin and target sites, and another indicating the evaluating of the XACML policy. This may take upto 20 seconds. e. Archon will show that you have logged in as "faculty from test1.edu". Now click on "browse". f. In the results page, for every item, all the links are clickable. Click on the title of a paper, a pop up window shows all the metadata and the services available for the faculty. 4. Changing permissions for faculty of test1.edu a. OPEN A BROWSER FROM THE DESKTOP. b. You may use the book mark(1b) or use the following navigation sequence http://archon.cs.odu.edu -> Experimental Services -> Secure Distributed Digital Libraries -> Experimental Demonstration -> Contributor Profile and Policy Management for Archon. c. Follow the sequence "Policy Management -> View or Update Policy -> [APS,aps123] Update Policy. You will see an updateable view of an existing policy. Two rules exist for faculty, one that provides access to all metadata and another that provides access to all services. d. Check the rule that provides access to all services, and click on "Delete Selected Items". e. Click on "Save Policy" to make the changes persistant. f. Keep this window open, it has an option to "Reset Policy for APS" to its initial state. g. Repeat all the steps in (3), this time you will see that the "similar subject" and "citation" are not links any more. Also, when the title of a paper is clicked, the services field is blank as it should be. h. After (g) click on "Reset Policy for APS", and you are good to go for another cycle of demostration.
